What is heat transfer vinyl

Heat transfer vinyl (HTV or iron-on vinyl) is made from PET, PU/PVC, and hot glue. It can easily be cut with your LOKLiK iCraft™, Crafter, Cricut or Silhouette cutting machine.
When heated with a heat press, the vinyl melts and transfers your design onto your chosen fabric. It works beautifully on a variety of materials like cotton, polyester, and cotton/poly blends, making it a versatile go-to for all your creative projects like T-shirts, totes, pillows and much more!

Our sturdy heat transfer vinyl is designed to withstand multiple washes without colour fading, peeling or cracking.

How to use heat transfer vinyl

Design

Create your design. Be sure to check that your design is mirrored before cutting.

Cut

Place the material with the dull side facing up on the cutting mat. Cut your design with your LOKLiK Crafter, Cricut or Silhouette cutting machine.

Weed

Weed away any excess vinyl from the original clear protective backing.

Press

Place it on your fabric with the transfer sheet facing up. Place a Teflon sheet on top and press it on with your heat press using the temperature settings recommended in the manual*.

Peel

Let your project cool down and peel off the transfer sheet.

Done!

Your design is ready. You can now iron on another colour if you want.

*Temperature and settings can vary depending on the material.

Care instructions

  • Wait 24 hours before washing.
  • Wash and tumble dry inside out.
  • Machine wash cold (30 °C).
  • Use a mild detergent. Do not bleach.
  • When ironing, do not iron the design directly. Turn inside out, iron the back or use a Teflon sheet to protect the design.
